My First Day at the Petersens Office…

After travelling the world from China to Australia, Singapore and Malaysia I returned home to the daunting task of finding a job.

But as a Media and Communications graduate from Swansea University how hard could it be?

Well, its four months down the line and I’m still in full-time unemployment.

However, my New Years resolution is to find a job and I’m taking baby steps to get there.

When an e-mail arrived in my inbox for a work taster with Petersens I jumped at the chance to get it – this is just what I needed because being declined from roles due to lack of experience is so last year.

After the nightmare of de-icing my car and then taking the wrong turning on the roundabout I eventually made it to the office. I was welcomed by Becci and offered a glass of fresh orange juice – just what that doctor ordered!

I was kept busy all day helping Becci organise the Cardiff Breakfast Club and creating press cuttings for client portfolios.

I was also invited to assist at the Breakfast Club which meant a very early start; arriving at St David’s Hotel at 7:15! But it was definitely worth it as I gained invaluable experience and also got a free Welsh breakfast thrown in.

I’m looking forward to the rest of my time at Petersens, learning the ins and outs of how a small PR firm works and gaining great experience along the way.

Becci Gould, Account Executive says:

Ffion has been fantastic help so far and feels like part of the team already! I really couldn’t have run the Breakfast Club without her and on only her second day here, she definitely coped well under the pressure of 140 guests! I hope the experience here helps Ffion to gain the skills and expertise she needs to begin a career in PR and events.  Monday mornings are certainly easier with her help!
